The difference between FSSC 22000 and ISO 22000
ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000 are international standards and both contain the most important components for ensuring food safety. Two certification programs that are very similar and play a key role in ensuring safe and high quality food products.
The two programs are very similar because the FSSC 22000 program uses ISO 22000 as a requirement for the management system. However, FSSC 22000 contains additional requirements, including the Prerequisite Program (PRP), or universal procedures used to control working conditions in food factories, and specific requirements of FSSC to ensure consistency, integrity and management of the system.
The main difference between the two certifications is that unlike the ISO standard, the FSSC 22000 program is recognized by the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative). GFSI recognition demonstrates that the program meets the highest standards globally and is accepted in the international food industry.
