RED cyber security requirement
From 1st August 2025, all wireless devices placed on the EU market must comply with the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) cybersecurity requirements.

Which products/equipment should be compliant?
The following radio equipment categories fall under the scope of cybersecurity requirements
Equipment category
- Equipment that uses radio technology for communication over the internet
- IoT devices that can transmit data over the internet
- Toys and childcare equipment that use radio/wireless technology
- Wearable devices
- Connected industrial devices
If information is required about the devices in this category, the following product types can be considered within the scope:
- Wireless radio communication-enabled cell phones and tablets
- Wireless cameras and connected cameras with WiFi/Bluetooth/radio connectivity
- Smart home devices: smart plugs, smart lights, smart thermostats, home alarm systems with radio connectivity
- Wearable devices: fitness trackers, smart watches, health monitoring wearables
- Baby monitors and other wireless equipment related to childcare
- Toys with radio/wireless connectivity (e.g., remote-controlled drones, wireless toy wearables)
